Area Man Arrested for Taking His Child, Without Permission
An Independence man has been arrested for allegedly taking a young child, without permission, from a residence in Westgate.
The investigation began at about 5:30pm Monday (April 12) when the Fayette County Sheriff received a report that 36 year old Joshua Sandhagen came to the house in Westgate, assaulted a female resident, and took his 2 year old child.
Sandhagen and the toddler, were later located in Hazleton. Sandhagen was charged with Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury. The child was located at a home in Lamont, and was not hurt.
Sandhagen was taken to the Fayette County jail, where he awaits a court appearance. The Fayette County sheriff was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Buchanan County Sheriff, and Oelwein Police Department.
