Area Man Arrested After Driving into Ditch

An area man faces several charges following a minor weekend accident.

At about 7pm Saturday (May 27), a Fayette County deputy, while out on routine patrol, found a car in the ditch east of Oelwein, in the area of 50th Street and "L" Avenue.

The driver, 45 year old Darrick Brehm of Strawberry Point, had driven into the ditch, and fell asleep. Brehm was arrested on charges of Operating While Intoxicated-3rd Offense, Driving While Barred, and Failure to Maintain Control. He was not injured.

Also on Saturday evening, 24 year old Kyle Bishop of West Union was taken into custody on a Fayette County warrant for Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. He was held on $2,000 cash bond.

And on Monday (May 29), authorities received a trespassing complaint in the city of Arlington. 45 year old Angela Barajas of Arlington was arrested for Trespassing, and held until a court appearance.
