Area Farmer Dies in Tractor/Semi Accident
A Northeast Iowa farmer has died, after his tractor was struck by a semi.
It happened shortly after 8am Friday (April 17) on Mitchell County road T-40, or Monument Road, 1/2 mile south of 450th Street, south of Stacyville.
62 year old James Duponcheele of Stacyville was driving his tractor south, when he began a left turn into a driveway. Another southbound vehicle, a semi driven by 43 year old Brandon Wendt of Mankato, Minnesota, attempted to pass the tractor, and rear-ended the vehicle.
Duponcheele died from his injuries; his tractor was totaled.
It was unknown if the semi driver was injured.
The accident was covered by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office and the state D.O.T..
