Area Driver Charged For Accident While Passing

A Vinton motorist is being charged with causing a traffic accident in Buchanan County.

It happened at about 8pm Wednesday (March 16) on Highway 150, north of Independence.

A car driven by Nicholas Gardner of Vinton was northbound when he tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.

He met an oncoming car driven by Brett Davis of Independence. Both drivers attempted to avoid a head-on collission, but did make contact, with Gardner's car going into a ditch.
No one was injured; Gardner has been charged with passing on a hill or grade.
