Another Plane Goes Down in Eastern Iowa
Eastern Iowa authorities were called out to another small plane accident, about a day and a half after a crop duster went down in Sumner, killing the pilot.
At about 2:30pm Saturday (Aug. 10), the Linn County Sheriff was summoned to an aircraft accident, one mile east of Highway 3, about a mile south of the Marion Airport.
Initially, emergency workers could not find the plane, which had gone down in a corn field.
The next day, deputies used a drone, finding the small single-engine plane in a field.
Both occupants of the aircraft, pilot Bonnie Roth and student pilot Steph Draher, were able to walk away from the plane with no injuries.
The emergency landing is under investigation by the FAA and Linn County Sheriff's Office.
