The Fayette County Sheriff is warning area residents of another IRS scam.

Sheriff Marty Fisher notes that his office has received several calls this week, reporting a scam involving someone claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service.

A caller identifying themselves as from being from the IRS, has been contacting local residents, threatening to put out warrants for their arrest if they don't make a payment.

Once again, the IRS does not make calls, demanding money.

The sheriff is reminding the public to not give out any personal information over the phone, especially bank account and credit card numbers.

Residents receiving such a call, should either hang up, or contact local law enforcement.
