Allamakee Co. Cycle Accident Kills Minnesota Man

Allamakee County authorities have identified a Minnesota man, as the victim of a fatal weekend motorcycle accident.

The Allamakee County Sheriff was alerted of the accident shortly after 11:30am Saturday (July 25), on County Road X52, about 3 miles north of Harpers Ferry.
The operator, 69 year old Gary Thomforde of Red Wing, Minnesota, was riding his motorcycle southbound, but failed to negotiate a curve.

Thomforde was thrown off the bike; he was the only one on the motorcycle. Thomforde was taken by ambulance to a LaCrosse, Wisconsin hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the accident. They were assisted at the scene by Harpers Ferry Fire and Rescue, Iowa DNR, and Iowa State Patrol.
