Accidental “Delivery” of a Tire by Cedar Falls Fed-Ex Driver Near Hawkeye
The Fayette County Sheriff reports an unusual traffic accident involving a delivery truck, from last Friday (May 28).
It happened at about 6:30pm at Highway 18 and Rose Road, just north of Hawkeye. Investigating deputies determined that a Fed-Ex truck, driven by 27 year old Tyler Ledesma of Cedar Falls, was westbound on Highway 18, when one of the truck's back tires came off.
The tire struck a car driven by 79 year old Kathryn Patterson of West Union. No one was injured, but there was over $4,000 in damages to the vehicles. The Hawkeye Fire Department assisted the Fayette County Sheriff at the scene.

The Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a hit and run accident Sunday morning (May 30).
The incident was reported at about 8:15am, at Skip-A-Way Campground in Clermont. A vehicle driven by Robert Steffen Jr., was leaving the campground at about 3:30am. In the process, his 2015 Dodge Ram pickup struck a parked car that was unoccupied.
No one was injured; the car sustained less than $1,000 damage.
Steffen left the scene, however he was later located at a hotel in Clermont, and interviewed by deputies. No word on any charges.
