Accident Indirectly Caused by Turkeys, Puts One in Hospital
A flock of wild turkeys was apparently a factor in a traffic accident in Linn County.
Just before 10:30am Monday (April 2), emergency crews were called to an accident with injuries on East Post Road, just north of Cottage Grove Avenue, south of Marion.
A sport utility vehicle, driven by 66 year old Jeffery Spicer of Cedar Rapids, rear-ended a sport utility vehicle driven by 19 year old Breanna Burhite, also of Cedar Rapids.
Burhite had stopped on the road, to wait for several turkeys to pass.
Burhite was taken to Mercy Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries; Spicer was not hurt.
Spicer was ticketed for Following Too Close.
