A Unique Iowa Event Will Feature Over 1,000 Carved Pumpkins
That's a LOT of Jack-O-Lanterns!
I was on the hunt for some cool Halloween activities this month here in Iowa, when I came across a new article from the website Only in Your State. The title of the article is "There’s A Glowing Pumpkin Trail Coming To Iowa And It’ll Make Your Fall Magical." I obviously had to know more.
Spirits in the Gardens is an annual event held at a place called Reiman Gardens over at Iowa State University in Ames. According to the Facebook event page:
"Reiman Gardens' popular fall celebration is back with even more spooky fun! With 1,000+ intricately carved Jack-O-Lanterns, magic shows, candy, chemistry experiments, jugglers, cosplay and so much more. Wear your favorite costume and join in the fun."
The event will kick off on Friday, October 15th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with what's called the "Jack-O-Lantern Sneak Peek." It's simply an early look at all the carved pumpkins with no entertainment, candy, or anything else.
The big celebration will take place Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., attendees will be able to enjoy chemistry shows, juggling, unicycling, the game Simon Says, and cosplay from the ISU Cosplay Club. Then from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the 1,000+ Jack-O-Lanterns will be lit up for all to see. There will also be a lighted tower, glowing orbs, Hollusion hologram projections, a "Candy Factory," and magic shows from Christian Manahl. He is set to perform at 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 p.m.
Tickets from Spirits in the Gardens are $10 for adults, $5 for ages two through 12, and free for kids under two. They must be purchased in advance online HERE.
