A Northeast Iowa Man Has Died After Crashing into a Tree

A Northeast Iowa man has died, after his speeding car collided with a tree.

According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff, they were alerted of an accident, just before 7pm Thursday (Oct. 24).

Their investigation determined that the driver, identified as 54 year old William Smith of Decorah, was driving at a high rate of speed on Trout Run Road. His vehicle went off the roadway, colliding with a large tree.

Smith, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead from his injuries.
