7 Things Iowans Can Paint For Easter This Year Instead Of Eggs
We're not made of money.
I suspect even the Easter Bunny is going to have a rough go of it this year. Eggs are averaging about $6 per dozen (and up 10% from just January to February). And unfortunately, relief doesn't look like it will be here any time soon.
The bird flu is raging on, as it has been for a while now, after it resulted in the death of 20 million chickens in the last quarter of 2024 alone. There are now restaurants putting a surcharge on items with eggs.
This is not timely, as we are about a month away from Easter, which will be on April 20th this year.
Since they won't get cheaper soon and with the cost of seemingly everything going up, spending a chunk of money on eggs just to paint doesn't seem feasible. But it's still fun to paint or get the little dye kits for the holiday. But what can we do with them?
Luckily, there are several more cost-effective options to paint on for Easter. And before you snuff out any of these ideas, remember it could be fun to look back on Easter 2025 (which will already go down as the Year Of The Elusive Egg) as the year that the family painted oranges.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter what you paint. Just enjoy the holiday and time together.
