
Waterloo Man Arrested On Weapons, Drug Charges
A Waterloo man has been arrested on weapons and drug charges.
According to a news release, Waterloo police executed a search warrant at 1256 West Mullan Ave. Thursday in connection with a weapons investigation. Officers detained 24-year-old Malik Edwards as he left the apartment building.
Police said officers located two semi-automatic handguns, marijuana and evidence of drug distribution during the search of Edwards’ residence. Edwards was taken into custody on two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver while in possession of a firearm.
Court records show Edwards is prohibited from possessing firearms due to multiple previous felony convictions. One of his prior convictions was for willful injury, a charge that was connected to a 2019 shooting.
