Traffic deaths in Iowa are up a significant amount. The Iowa State Patrol is now taking to the skies to crackdown on speed.

The state will consider multiple funding sources to purchase and install the equipment.

A central Iowa man was also injured in a weekend crash in Grundy County.

A goal to minimize traffic fatalities across the state was exceeded.

Both crashes happened Monday.

Attorneys defending the man charged in the shooting death of an Iowa State Patrol trooper in April wants the upcoming trial moved.

Also Monday, an accident in Cedar Falls trapped a woman and four dogs in the cab of an overturned semi.

Also Thursday, an Iowa State trooper was injured in a separate northeast Iowa accident.

It was an unconventional measure to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.
