The on-going search for Jake Wilson is moving to other areas, nearly two months after the autistic teenager from La Porte City disappeared.

Wolf Creek has been the primary focus of the search since April 7, when the 16-year-old went for a walk near the creek and didn't return home. After initial checks of the water and surrounding areas provided no clues in the investigation, authorities last month decided to bring in heavy equipment to remove large debris piles from the creek. La Porte City Police Chief Chris Brecher said that three-week operation ended over the weekend.

According to Brecher, there was a small portion of Wolf Creek that the equipment was unable to clear due to depths and unstable bed conditions. He said 25 police and fire personnel cleared that section on Sunday (June 3, 2018).

"We do not have any plans to re-check the waters at this time," Brecher stated in a press release. "As it has been from the beginning, we will continue to investigate this case with the possibility that Jake may not be in Wolf Creek or the surrounding land areas. We are still unable to rule anything out."

Moving forward, Brecher said investigators will be using the leads that come in to expand into different search areas. The police chief stressed that authorities are not calling off all searches for Wilson.

Anyone with information on Wilson's whereabouts should call the La Porte City Police Department at 319-342-2232 or the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office at 319-291-2515.
