
One Injured, One Charged In Waterloo Shooting

Authorities have arrested a Waterloo man on charges connected to a shooting in the city early Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Jakwone Watkins of Waterloo. He was taken into custody on charges of carrying weapons, willful injury and possession of a firearm as a felon.
Officials said officers located Watkins a short time after the shooting, which occurred at 414 Sunnyside Ave.
Waterloo police were dispatched to the apartment house around 6 AM after someone called the dispatch center to report the incident. Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Aaliyah Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Lewis was taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment. Authorities described Lewis' injuries as non-life-threatening.
