Man Arrested for Firing Weapon in Officers’ Presence
A Waukon man has been arrested for terrorism and other charges, following a weekend incident in which he fired a gun while police officers were at the residence.
On Saturday (April 6), Waukon Police responded to a report of domestic assault to a juvenile at a home on 1st Avenue NW.
While officers were at the home, police attempted to make contact with the suspect, 33 year old Loren Havens, who was also in the home.
Havens made a comment about someone dying, and then fired a .45 caliber gun. No one was injured.
Havens was taken into custody on charges of Domestic Assault, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Use of a Firearm, and Terrorism.
Waukon Police were assisted by the Allamakee County Sheriff and Iowa DNR.
