Unique Space in Waterloo Is A Replica of Iconic Landmark

While art is subjective, there are some instances where we all can agree when something is REALLY cool. One establishment in Waterloo would even turn the head of the snobbiest art critic.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, like many restaurants one popular Waterloo eatery had to close its doors. Galleria de Paco quickly became a huge draw for tourists and artists all across the country.

The restaurant quickly gained national attention for its unique atmosphere created by artist Paco Rosic. Rosic is a Bosnian artist who settled in Waterloo years ago. He specializes in illustration, aerosol and mural work; and brought his unique touch to a building in the city.

Why were people coming from all over to dine here?

Well, Rosic recreated the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel...with spray paint.

Just to compare, here is a video of one of Michelangelo's most famous works.

The restaurant closed down due to "the forced limitations and expense" they underwent during the height of the pandemic, according to KWWL. 

Now, that art and that space is back. Now called Cappella Magna, this luxurious establishment now operates as a "premiere destination venue" that hosts weddings, corporate events, office parties, and anniversaries.

It's been open for a little over a year and a half now and the space continues to flaunt the amazing art, mural pieces completed by Rosic.
