2024 is the year of major milestone traveling adventures, according to Travel & Leisure.
Think anniversaries, weddings, or graduations...
Approximately 84% of people are planning to spend the same amount of money or a bit more on travel this year compared to 2023.
However, many Americans might actually be spending more money on spur of the moment trips. 80% of travelers are expecting the unexpected this year.
A majority of people are anticipating making a spontaneous trip that they did not plan or budget for in 2024.
Traveling Is Expensive This Year
In a report from the New York Times, the cost of air travel is steady this year. It's still pretty expensive and it's not getting cheaper.
At least the cost isn't going up TOO much.
In 2023, the average cost of a domestic flight was $380, according to reports. The airports with the highest average cost for domestic flights are; Madison (MSN), Anchorage (ANC), Birmingham (BHM), Washington-Dulles (IAD) and Minneapolis (MSP).
