In just the past week, two eateries have announced their imminent closure.

Earlier this week, we shared with you that Carter House Market & Cafe would be closing. Officials did share that the Main Street spot will be open during regular business hours all this week. Carter House will close its doors for the time being on Friday, September 16th.

On Tuesday, September 13th, the owners of another eatery in Downtown Cedar Falls announced they would be shutting down. However, this closure seems to be permanent.

David's Taphouse and Dumplings, located at 200 W. 1st Street, opened less than a year ago in November of 2021. David's assortment of dumplings with a litany of steam, pan-fried, fried, vegan and vegetarian options.

Your last day to get any of these delicious eats is this week. On the restaurant's Facebook page, the owners shared the sad news about the upcoming closure.

"We would like to thank the entire Cedar Falls community for its loving support this past year..."

The eatery will close its doors for the last time on Sunday, September 18th. According to restaurant officials they decided to make the tough decision to close because of "the harsh economic state the world finds itself in."

David's will be operating under normal business hours in the days leading up to closing. Customers should expect some steep deals on all inventory with some major deals being offered over the weekend.
