The past week has been dangerously hot in the state of Iowa. Some days have been worse than others but overall, being outside for too long and not staying hydrated could be fatal for some people.

When it weather gets into the mid-upper 90s, everyone should know that they need to bring their animals inside if they can and never leave them sitting in the car without the AC running. Did you know a car's interior can get up to 110 degrees in 10 minutes, and 120 degrees in 20 minutes when it's 90 degrees outside?

Here is a story that will make just about anyone's blood boil and there is absolutely zero excuse for any person to do this. Frankly, it's disgusting to hear about something like this happening if you ask me. Other than doing this to a child, this is about as low as it gets. These animals didn't deserve this.

29 Rescued Cats

Mason City police officials, Iowa's Animal Rescue League, and the Animal Welfare and Response team were thankfully able to rescue 29 cats from being trapped in a van, on Monday, in Mason City. If you remember Monday, much of eastern Iowa was facing temperatures around 95 degrees.

According to CBS Iowa, the cats didn't have any access to food or water during this time frame, and two of the cats had something wrapped around their necks that resulted in deep wounds. Some of the cats were suffering from respiratory infections, eye infections, and other illnesses.

**You can see photos from the story by visiting CBS Iowa and there is a blurred photo due to the graphic nature.**

Thankfully, the story ends on a positive note. The cats were removed from the van and brought into air-conditioned vehicles. Once they arrived at the animal shelter, they had access to food and water, and they were able to receive the care they needed.

According to CBS Iowa, Andres Enrique Guilartest Martinez was arrested by police and has been charged with 3 counts of animal neglect.

I have 1 simple question when something like this happens. Why? What causes someone to do this? It's sick and completely uneccessary. Hopefully, all of these animals can make a full recovery.
