Just last week, we shared a report that there was the possibility of snow hitting the Hawkeye State over the weekend. Thankfully for those of us that can't stand the stuff, it didn't happen.

Unfortunately, whether it means snow is incoming or not, temperatures are about to drop big time here in Iowa.

According to WHO13, a cold front is about to blow through the state, bringing in rain and storms along with it. The site elaborates on the incoming weather: "Temperatures stay mild Wednesday, but southerly winds bring persistent cloud cover and breezy conditions, with gusts near 30 mph possible. Those southerly winds keep us in the mid-60s overnight (into Thursday)."

It's not going to stay like that for long, though. Apparently, come mid-day tomorrow, things are going to get chilly real fast.

The news station continues: "Temperatures plummet through Thursday afternoon. By the late afternoon, temperatures will be in the low 40s. Lows drop to the low to mid-20s overnight due to clearing skies and breezy northwesterly winds."

Frickin' BURR. NO, THANK YOU.

And guess what? Those mid-20-degree temperatures are probably going to stick around -- at least for a few days: "Friday morning, temperatures will be in the low to mid-20s, and it will feel like the upper single digits! Friday and into the weekend, highs will struggle to get into the 30s. Lows will be in the teens to low 20s."

Upper single digits.

Temperatures are going to stick around the 20-degree mark into next week before things warm up a bit, but "The long-term forecast keeps temperatures below average for the next two weeks."
