Even after their six-game winning streak against the Iowa State Cyclones was broken, and the offense was abysmal once again, the weekend wasn't all bad for Iowa Hawkeye fans.

As he announced on Sunday, four-star, dual-threat quarterback in the 2024 class, James Resar has committed to playing for Kirk Ferentz and the Hawks. The junior QB plays for Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He received a scholarship offer from the Iowa staff on June 8, 2022.

This is what he told HawkeyeInsider regarding his thoughts on Iowa Football:

I know they have a reputation for doing things the right way through hard work and that they play very physical football. I think I have the tools to make the throws they will expect to be made, the work ethic to learn the system in order to make the right reads, and running ability to put added pressure on defenses.

According to MaxPreps, last season Resar completed 99 passes for 1,266 yards and 13 touchdowns while throwing just five interceptions. On the ground, he ran the ball 50 times for 476 yards and ten touchdowns. His football stats aren't the only thing that shows off his speed, either. He ran the 100-meter dash in 10.86 seconds this spring.

For a frame of reference, that would have placed Resar in the top three in the event at the 2022 Iowa High School State Track Meet in the 1A, 2A, and 3A classes. He would have placed fifth in 4A.

Additionally, according to 247Sports, the quarterback "played through (his) sophomore season with a broken leg, which was an injury he suffered Week 2. (He) helped Bishop Kenny make Florida’s 5A playoffs, which marked the first time the school had made the postseason in five years."

By way of his efforts thus far in his high school career, Resar has received offers from Wake Forest, Toledo, Georgia Southern, Indiana, and Georgia Tech. He's also received interest from Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Cincinnati, according to Rivals.com.

Resar joins Iowa's other 2024 commits in Williamsburg's LB Derek Weisskopf, LB Winfield-Mount Union's Cam Buffington, Monticello LB Prestin Ries, and East Buchanan OL Cody Fox.
