Conflicting Reports on Former Hawkeye’s Injury at Ravens Camp

Tyler Linderbaum -- a Solon, Iowa native -- is a hometown hero. Not only did he receive unanimous consensus All-America status while playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes, but he was also named first-team All-America by the Walter Camp Foundation, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Associated Press, Sporting News, and AFCA.

Along with earning all of those accolades in the black and gold, Linderbaum was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 25th pick in the NFL Draft this spring.

Teams across the league, including the Ravens, are currently preparing for the upcoming NFL season. Preseason games are about to be in full swing -- which makes this news a bit more unfortunate.

As reported by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garrafolo of ESPN, the center suffered a Lisfranc injury after he limped off the training camp practice field in Owing Mills, Maryland.

Linderbaum has had injury issues with his foot since the Citrus Bowl against Kentucky earlier this year. That's when the Lisfranc problem started.

However, shortly after the report started to circulate news sources, head coach for the Ravens, John Harbaugh discussed the injury with the media and said that the injury he suffered isn't any type of Lisfranc injury.

According to team reporter Ryan Mink of the Baltimore Ravens website, this is what Harbaugh said yesterday:

That's not true. That's not true. It's not a Lisfranc sprain. There's a ligament; it's not that ligament. It's a different ligament. So, he's had the Lisfranc before. There's no separation, there's no Lisfranc sprain per se. That's my understanding. I'm not a doctor, but I play one in press conferences, as you know. But that's what I was told.

He just has a soft tissue type of a deal, a ligament type of a deal in his foot that is not a serious thing. But, we want it to be right and healed, so it's going to take a little bit of time. But it's not a Lisfranc.

It was also shared that, though it isn't a Lisfranc injury, the All-American is expected to miss 1-2 weeks of important camp time after he underwent X-rays and an MRI.
