The Closing & Reopening Dates for All Eastern Iowa Kum & Go Locations

Say goodbye to Kum & Go! Starting next month, Eastern Iowa Kum & Go locations will officially become MAVERIK!

If a Kum & Go gas station is your go-to stop on your daily commute, you'll have to change up your schedule for a few days in the coming weeks. Beginning September 26th, Kum & Go stores across the state of Iowa will close for around three days in order to make the transition to Maverik. Kum & Go was purchased by Maverik in August of 2023, which is the reason for the rebrand.

"To speed up the remodel, the kitchen will close a bit earlier, meaning no hot food or drinks for a bit. But don't worry - sandwiches, donuts, and other goodies will still be available."

What's New?

Maverik is an already established gas station chain with its own menu and rewards programs, but they are encouraging new customers to give them a chance. Their website reads:

"We know change can be a lot, but we think you'll love what's coming - exclusive weekly deals, epic sweepstakes, and award-winning restrooms."

Here are some of the features that new customers can expect:

  • Just like most gas stations, Maverik has prepared food options, including breakfast, hot dogs, pizza, salads, wraps, tacos, nachos, and desserts.

  • Kum & Go '&Rewards' will no longer exist once the stores have rebranded to Maverik, so you'll want to get signed up for Maverik's 'Adventure Club.' For step-by-step instructions on how to switch over, click HERE.

  • If you want to upgrade your Adventure Club membership, you can opt for the Nitro Card, which offers even more rewards and benefits. To get a free Nitro Card, you'll have to visit a Maverik location and ask for one, then you can register your card in the Maverik app or online and link it to your bank account.

Mega Saver

According to the Corridor Business Journal, not all area Kum & Go stores are transitioning into Maveriks. The article says that the locations at 3215 7th Ave in Marion and 1203 Blairs Ferry Rd & 2604 16th Ave SW in Cedar Rapids are now owned by Mega Saver. They note that, "it’s not clear exactly when the three stores were rebranded as Mega Saver locations."
