There is no middle ground when it comes to kickers in the game of football. You are either beloved by the fan base or hated for your misses. Fortunately for Iowa Hawkeye fans, the team has featured some great placekickers in Iowa City—names like Nate Kaeding, Rob Houghtlin, and Keith Duncan. Iowa fans are hoping the Hawkeye's latest recruit will add his name to that list.

Hawk Central reports that class of 2025 specialist Scott Starzyk committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday. He is the #1 ranked kicker and the #4 ranked punter in the class, and is listed as a five-star recruit in both categories. Starzyk told the Des Moines Register that he will attend Iowa as a kicker but could also punt when needed.

Hawk Central reports that Starzyk plays high school football at Woodlands High School in Texas. He chose the Hawkeyes over schools including Mississippi State, Syracuse, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. He made his official visit to Iowa City in June. Iowa offered Starzyk a full-ride scholarship, which it doesn't always do specialists.

Current Iowa kicker Drew Stevens has two seasons of eligibility left, according to Hawk Central. Starzyk will be in his first season at Iowa when Stevens is playing his last in Iowa City. Starzyk is the 14th player to commit to Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes for the class of 2025.
