Fareway Acquires Two Eastern Iowa Grocery Store Locations

Fareway Grocery Stores will be expanding its footprint in Eastern Iowa.

KCRG reports that Fareway announced Tuesday that they plan on purchasing two Brothers Market locations in Eastern Iowa. Fareway will purchase stores located at 1022 Skyler Street in Denver, Iowa, and at 930 Commercial Street in Lisbon, Iowa. In a press release, Jay DeVries, the co-owner of Brothers Market, thanked the communities of Denver and Lisbon for their years of support.

KCRG reports that both communities are OK with the move too. Lisbon City Administrator Brandon Siggins and Denver City Administrator Larry Farley both praised the sale and said that adding Fareway will be a benefit to their communities. The deal for the purchase of the two store locations is expected to close in March according to KCRG. 

KCRG reports that once the sale is final, both stores will be closed for several months for renovations. Officials with Fareway Stores said that Ace Hardware will continue to operate as a tenant inside the Denver, Iowa location and that Cabin Coffee will continue to operate at the Lisbon, Iowa location.

Fareway has also been in contact with employees at both Brothers locations in regard to employment opportunities at the new Fareway locations according to KCRG.
