The Farmer's Almanac -- which has been in publication since 1818 -- claims that the upcoming winter season will be another nasty one. Will it be correct? The publication claims its secret formula has been 80% accurate. (The Farmers' Almanac says that their formula consists of an “exclusive mathematical and astronomical formula, that relies on sunspot activity, tidal action, planetary position and many other factors.")

Let's deal with one dilemma at a time:

COLD: The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting that "The worst of  the bitterly cold winter conditions will affect areas east of the Rockies all the way to the Appalachians." The coldest outbreak of the season should arrive during the final week of January and last through the beginning of February.

SNOW:
The Almanac calls for 'above-normal' winter precipitation in the Midwest.

EARLY SPRING? NOPE.
According to their long-range outlook, spring will be slow to start with winter lingering across the Midwest.
