The date is set for a second meeting between the UNI and North Carolina men's basketball teams.

The Panthers will make the first of two trips to Chapel Hill, N.C., on Dec. 21, 2016, when they face the Tar Heels in the Dean E. Smith Center -- also known as "The Dean Dome".

In the first meeting, UNI upset the top-ranked Tar Heels, 71-67, at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls on Nov. 21, 2015. The Panthers rallied from a 16-point deficit early in the second half, using a 29-8 run over a 12-minute stretch to turn a 50-34 deficit into a 63-58 advantage. It was one of three top-25 wins that the Panthers recorded last season en route to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

North Carolina advanced to the national championship game, but fell short of winning the title. Kris Jenkins made a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift Villanova to a 77-74 victory.

The second meeting between UNI and North Carolina is part of a three-game deal that was announced a year ago. To complete the agreement, the Panthers will also play at North Carolina in the 2017-18 season.
