Don Bosco Wins 8-Player State Championship, Video Highlights
The Don Bosco Dons (12-1) claimed the 2016 Iowa High School Football 8-Player State Championship Thursday in the UNI-Dome.
Led by the 'Austin and Austin Show', the Dons bested Harris-Lake Park (12-1) 48-21 during the 8-Player championship game. Austin Svoboda tallied four touchdowns and 183 rushing yards for Don Bosco, and Austin Hellman added 82 yards and one touchdown.
The 8-Player title game remained relatively close through the first three periods. Don Bosco jumped out to the early lead, but Harris-Lake Park stayed close. As the third quarter got rolling, HLP scored to pull within three points (24-21).
That's when DB stole the momentum and pulled away. Brock Thome capped a four-straight touchdown run for the Dons with a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown sealing the 48-21 win. See the complete 2016 8-Player Playoff Bracket here (web).
