The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released the schedules for all 331 football-playing schools across the state, covering the next two seasons.

Earlier this year, the IHSAA's Board of Control approved changes to the playoff qualification system and also adopted classification and district format changes that will force some schools to compete at a different level when the season begins in August. Most notably, Waterloo East moves down to Class 3A and Gladbrook-Reinbeck will compete as an 8-player varsity program for the first time in school history. Also, for the first time since the debut of district football, all nine games will count toward making the playoffs.

Each of the next two years, each team will play a nine-game schedule. The location of the 2018 games will switch to the opposite locations in 2019.

The IHSAA released the 2018 and 2019 district assignments each school in all six classes earlier this year.

For most teams in Iowa, the 2018 season kicks off on Friday, Aug. 24.
