Black Hawks Feast On Thanksgiving Weekend With 3 Wins
Waterloo widened their lead in the Western Conference with three victories over the long holiday weekend. The Black Hawks are 15-4-1 and have built a HUGE 9 point lead over 2nd place Lincoln.
SATURDAY NIGHT AT CEDAR RAPIDS
Waterloo wrapped up a busy Thanksgiving week with a 1-0 win against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Saturday night at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. (adding to their shut-out victory over Cedar Rapids on Thursday night, 4-0)
Logan Stein made 30 saves for the shutout victory. Two nights earlier, he had blanked the RoughRiders with a 28-save performance at Young Arena. Stein now leads all USHL goalies with four shutouts in 2019/20.
FRIDAY NIGHT AT DES MOINES
The Black Hawks weren’t behind for long Friday during a 4-1 victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers on the road at Buccaneer Arena. Gabriel Carriere made 26 saves for the win.
HUGE WESTERN CONFERENCE MATCH-UP THIS WEEKEND
Waterloo’s final home games before Christmas are this Friday and Saturday against the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 p.m. both nights. The Black Hawks will wear jerseys featuring the shark-toothed Flying Tiger P-40 fighter planes of World War II, which will be auctioned off following Saturday’s game to benefit Cedar Valley Honor Flight.
