World Pork Expo in Des Moines, will present four diverse musical acts during MusicFest on Thursday, June 4, offering something for everyone. From 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees can take in the musical performances on Grand Avenue at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Brought to you by the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), this year’s entertainment will include an encore show by Jake McVey; the crowd-pleasing group, Hot Rod-Chevy Kevy; Denny Laine, formerly with Paul McCartney and Wings; and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Terry Sylvester.

Returning to MusicFest following last year’s high-energy stage show is singer/songwriter Jake McVey, who grew up working on his parents’ Iowa farm. A skilled guitarist and songwriter, McVey averages 300 shows a year and has been named a Top 10 Act to Catch by Billboard magazine. Known for songs like “I Want to Live Like That,” he recently released a third album, “Best Days of Our Lives,” which is described as somewhere between Southern rock and gospel.

Attendees can expect crowd-pleasing rock ‘n’ roll and soul music from the ’60s when Hot Rod-Chevy Kevy takes the stage. Recently inducted into the Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Music Association Hall of Fame, this nine-member band has played more than 3,000 performances throughout the country, engaging audiences to create a party atmosphere. Hot Rod-Chevy Kevy’s now-famous tribute to the Blues Brothers is not to be missed.

Certain to be a highlight is singer-songwriter and guitarist Denny Laine. An original member of the Moody Blues, Laine played guitar and provided vocals for the band's first hit, "Go Now." Later, he joined Paul McCartney to form Wings, co-writing hits such as “Mull of Kintyre” during his 10 years with the band. The MusicFest audience can expect to hear songs from his time as a solo artist, a variety of famous covers and music from his days with Wings.

Terry Sylvester started his musical career in the early ’60s with The Escorts, a group handpicked by the Beatles to share the stage at the Cavern Club. Sylvester’s big break came when he joined The Hollies, a group known for No. 1 hits like “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” “Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)” and “The Air That I Breathe.” Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2010, Sylvester has earned four Platinum and nine Gold records.
