WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — The National Weather Service says Waterloo saw record rainfall this week.

Waterloo saw 2.91 inches of rain on Wednesday. The weather service says that's the highest recorded in the eastern Iowa city for the date of June 22 since daily amounts began being recorded in 1895.

Wednesday's deluge produced a record amount of rain, according to data organized by the National Weather Service.

So far this month, Waterloo has seen 7.37 inches of rain. The weather service says the average for June is 3.77 inches.
