WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A 15-year-old Waterloo boy accused of fatally shooting his older sister has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Diyrun Coffer also pleaded guilty Friday to trafficking stolen weapons. Prosecutors say Coffer was 14 when he accidentally shot his 15-year-old sister, Jykeria Coffer, at their home on May 15. The handgun had been stolen during a burglary earlier that day. The boy had been charged with burglary, but the charge was dismissed.

The judge ordered Coffer to remain at the State Training School for Boys in Eldora as part of the sentence for the manslaughter charge. The trafficking sentence, which carries a five-year maximum, was deferred until Coffer turns 18.
