Students in the Independence Community School District, finally got back to their classes today (Nov. 27), after an extended Thanksgiving break, prompted by problems with their water service.

A water main break in Independence was the reason school officials cancelled classes Monday, for the East and West Elementary School, the Kidsville/Early Childhood Center, the Administration building, plus St. John's Elementary, because they use the bus system from the Independence Community District.

The Junior/Senior High School in Independence was not effected, so students were back Monday morning from the holiday recess.

The water main break was expected to be fixed by Monday afternoon; all classes resumed today, as normal.
