It looks like one Northeast Iowa community will be building a new aquatic center.

Voters in Guttenberg went to the polls Tuesday (March 6) to decide on a public measure, to issue $2.8 million in bonds to pay for the construction of a municipal aquatic center.

The measure needed a supermajority of at least 60% approval to pass. It received nearly 79%. The unofficial vote tally in Guttenberg was 271 "yes" votes, to 73 "no" votes, or 78.78% approval. Voter turnout was almost 26% of registered voters.

The $2.8 million will pay for the cost of constructing, furnishing, and equipping a new municipal aquatic center.
