VIDEO: Coast Guard Rescue Footage from Houston
Hurricane Harvey has broken precipitation records, with flooding is wide spread and people stranded everywhere. U.S. Coast Guard stations from around the U.S. have come to the rescue, literally, to help the local Coast Guard in the Houston area to save as many lives as they can. We are able to see this happen courtesy of video directly from our U.S. Coast Guard.
Along with Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crews, Coast Guard air crews from around the nation are assisting in rescue efforts. In total, there are 21 helicopters assisting with around-the-clock rescue operations in Houston: seven MH-60 Jayhawks and 14 MH-65 Dolphins.
"The Coast Guard is continuing to work with all federal, state and local agencies for rescue operations in the Houston area. We have pulled assets and resources from across the country to create a sustainable force. This is a united effort that is still in the early stages and we are focused on the safety of those in the affected area and saving lives." - Vice Adm. Karl Schultz, commander, Coast Guard Atlantic Area.
