A frost covered highway was the cause of a rollover accident that put an area man in the hospital.

Just before 8am Monday (March 18), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a rollover accident at the intersection of Highway 3 and 40th Street, east of Oelwein at the Stanley "S" curves.

A westbound van driven by 55 year old Kevin Fletcher of Manchester, went out of control on the frost covered curve of the highway; the van crossed the center line and hit a snowbank. The van then overturned in the road onto the passenger side.

Fletcher was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. His van was totaled.

The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Mercy Ambulance, and Stanley Fire Department.
