Authorities have charged a 19-year-old man with threat of terrorism in connection with an incident that forced the lock-down of a Butler County school Wednesday morning (May 30, 2018).

Sheriff's officials said they arrested Andrew Corwin, 19, of Greene, soon after the investigation began. They confirmed that Corwin was not found at the school and their probe concluded that he had not been at or near the school.

Law enforcement learned about a potential threat to North Butler Junior/Senior High School in Greene around 10:15 AM on Wednesday. Authorities said they alerted district officials, even though initial information concerning the treat was vague.

The building was then placed on lock-down to ensure the safety of students and staff. The lock-down lasted 40 minutes, North Butler Schools Superintendent Joel Foster said in a Facebook post soon after it ended.

If convicted, Corwin faces up to five years in prison.

Charles City police were also involved in the investigation.
