Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 63 and Cedar Wapsi earlier today (Thursday, October 8th)

According to the press release, Sheriff's Deputies responded to a reported Roll Over accident on Hwy. 63 at W. Cedar Wapsi RD. north of Waterloo.

A vehicle operated by Bridget Pavelec, 30,  of Waterloo was southbound on Hwy. 63 when a vehicle operated by Dale Thome, 79, of Waterloo which was westbound on W. Cedar Wapsi RD. collided after Mr. Thome failed to yield from a stop sign. The collision caused the Pavelec vehicle, a Dodge Grand Caravan Mini-van, to roll over several times coming to rest on the drivers side.

Ms. Pavelec and two children in her vehicle, ages 1 and 3, were assisted from their vehicle and taken to a local hospital in Waterloo. Both children were in Child Restraint Car Seats. Ms. Pavelec had possible internal injuries and the children were transported for observation. Mr. Thome was not injured.

Mr. Thome was cited for Disobeying A Stop Sign by Failing To Yield. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol and the Denver Fire Department.
