Black County Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident today (Wednesday, October 11, 2017) that injured one of the two drivers.

Just before 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 11, Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of S. Canfield and Dubuque Roads.

On arrival Deputies observed a semi tractor trailer and a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox in the middle of the roadway. The Equinox had heavy damage to the driver's side of the vehicle.

Investigation revealed that the Equinox, driven by, Martin Diakiese, 38, of Waterloo was traveling southbound on S. Canfield Road when it failed to stop at the posted stop sign. A 2016 Mack Semi-Trailer, owned by ABF Freight Systems, was traveling westbound on Dubuque Road. The truck was operated by Richard Corkery, 65, of Independence, when it collided with the Equinox.

Mr. Diakiese was transported to Covenant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. His condition has not been released.
