Teen Seriously Hurt in 2 Car Accident

An eastern Iowa teen has been seriously injured in a traffic accident, west of Coggon.

The Linn County Sheriff was notified of the accident, just before 6:30pm Thursday (Oct. 11) in the 5600 block of Pering Ridge Road.

A vehicle driven by 16 year old Heath Moyer of Coggon was northbound, when an oncoming car, driven by 57 year old Dan Strum, also of Coggon, turned left into the path of Moyer's car.

Moyer was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids with serious injuries; he was not wearing his seatbelt. Strum was wearing his seatbelt, and was not hurt.

Strum was charged with making an Unsafe Turn.

The Linn County Sheriff continues to investigate the incident.
