Authorities have taken a Waterloo man into custody, after he ran out of gas during a chase into Bremer County.

The incident happened early this morning, at about 2am, when a Waterloo Police officer tried to pull over a vehicle near Newell and Ankeny Streets, for a traffic infraction.

The driver, later identified as Eric Livingston, took off and led police on a pursuit, sometimes reaching over 100 miles an hour.

The chase continued north on Highway 63, into Bremer County. That's where Livingston's gas, and his luck, ran out. The car came to a stop just south of Highway 3.

Livingston then fled on foot, and was able to avoid officers for several hours, until a Bremer County deputy took him into custody

Livingston was charged with eluding, interference with official acts, driving with a suspended license, and a parole violation.

He was also transported back to Waterloo.
