Eastern Iowa authorities have arrested a 16 year old student for allegedly sending a threat to a school through social media.


At about 7am today (Wednesday, Nov. 21), the Johnson County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Lone Tree Community School district. School officials reported that they received a threat sent by one of their students, through a social media platform.

When the threat was made, the student could not be located. However, when deputies arrived at the school, they conducted an investigation, resulting in the arrest of a 16 year old student.

The teen was charged with Harassment-1st Degree.
The student is being held in the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.

The investigation continues.

The school website indicated that students would be dismissed early today because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
