Authorities continue to investigate a fatal one-car accident that happened Friday (July 6) near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Shortly after 12am, the Crawford County Sheriff received multiple 911 calls reporting a one-car accident on County Road "K", which is just north of The Barn Restaurant in Prairie du Chien Township.

A 2007 Ford Mustang, driven by 34 year old Craig Looney of Prairie du Chien, went out of control, down an embankment, and crashed into a tree.

Looney was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 23 year old Ashtyn Miles, also of Prairie, was airlifted to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, where she was in stable condition.

Eyewitnesses of the accident in nearby campers, told authorities that speed was a contributing factor.
