Slick Roads a Factor in Accident in Rural Fayette County

The winter driving conditions were a factor when an Oelwein motorist put his vehicle in the ditch Tuesday evening (Jan. 22).

Shortly after 5pm Tuesday, the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a car in the west ditch of "K" Avenue, near 90th Street, east of Maynard.

Investigating deputies determined that 61 year old Scott Sobel of Oelwein, had lost control of his 2000 Pontiac Bonneville, causing the car to go into the west ditch.

No one was injured, and there was no property damage.

The Fayette County Sheriff continues to investigate the accident.
