Short Chase Adds to Charges in Oelwein

A West Union man faces drug and other charges after a traffic stop and brief pursuit in Oelwein.

Just before 8pm Saturday (April 22), Oelwein Police pulled over a car in the 700 block of East Charles Street.

The driver, 24 year old Arturo Araujo, attempted to flee on foot, however he was taken into custody in the 10 block of 7th Avenue SE after a short foot chase.

Araujo is being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-2nd Offense, Interference with Official Acts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

An Oelwein man, 23 year old Joseph Hedgman, was arrested Sunday following a disturbance in the 10 block of 4th Avenue NE.

Hedgman is charged with Public Intoxication.
