Shooting in Rural Atkins: Man Seriously Hurt

Authorities are investigating a weekend shooting in rural Linn County.

At about 3:30am Saturday, officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance with shots fired at a home on Sisley Grove Road, east of Atkins.

A man was found at the home, suffering from 2 gunshot wounds. He was identified only as a 44 year old man from Cedar Rapids. The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City, with serious injuries.

A suspect in the shooting has been taken in for questioning.

Names in the incident are being withheld, pending the outcome of the investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
