A Postville man was able to walk away from a rollover crash, but his car was totaled, after he swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle.

The accident happened just before 12pm Saturday (Dec. 29), northeast of Clermont on Highway 18 (Harding Road).

19 year old Layne Guerrero was driving northbound on 18, when a southbound vehicle crossed into his path. Guerrero tried to avoid crashing into the other vehicle by driving onto the shoulder of the road.

His car went out of control, went into the ditch and rolled onto the driver's side. Guerrero was not injured, but his 2002 Nissan Maxima was considered a total loss.

Fayette County deputies were called out just after midnight Saturday, on the report of a vehicle in the ditch on Cedar Road, just south of Elgin.

A northbound car driven by Colton Gage of Wadena lost traction and entered a ditch. The car then struck and knocked down a road sign, as well as guide wires for a power pole.

Gage and his passenger were not hurt. His 1997 Oldsmobile had $5,000 in damage. The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating the accident.
